Oceans cover 70% of the Earth’s surface, which contributed more than half of global aerosol budget. From fresh emissions to cloud formation, aerosol particles and trace gases undergo a succession of physical and chemical processes, include but not limited to photochemical processes in surface seawater, atmospheric aging and cloud processes, which subsequently can alter the properties of a large fraction of clouds. Although there are myriad meticulous campaigns all over the world have focused on this historic yet critically important scientific questions, the inner exact mechanisms of these processes are still poorly understood owing to scarce systematic studies, let alone in a polluted ocean-continent interaction atmosphere. For example, the “Jing-Jin-Ji - Bohai Sea” region. To accomplish these important scientific questions, a serials study of a chain mechanisms is proposed in this project. This project will conduct airborne measurements, island-based measurements, seawater incubation experiments, wind tunnel experiments and cloud chamber simulation in the target area.
