Mixed phase clouds: in-situ observations and theoretical advances.

Dienstag, 27. November 2012, 15:00-0:00
KIT, IMK-AAF, Campus Nord, Geb.435, Raum 2.05
Results of multiyear airborne observations of mixed phase clouds collected by Environment Canada are presented. A theoretical framework describing the thermodynamics and phase transformation of a three phase component system consisting of ice particles, liquid droplets and water vapor is presented. The problem of maintenance and longevity of mixed phase clouds is discussed.
